About Sugarloaf Mountain Golf & Town Club (Minneola, FL)
This new semi-private club, designed by the architect team of Bill Coore-Ben Crenshaw, is their first-ever Florida project and already destined to become legendary. Set in Minneola (just west of Orlando) atop the highest point on Florida's peninsula, Sugarloaf Mountain offers spectacular views, dramatic elevation changes up to 250 feet, and features backdrops and a memorable layout unlike any other in Florida. Following the natural features of the land, it highlights Coore & Crenshaw's signature emphasis of strategic concepts meshed with simplistic design - just pure golf at its best. Lake Apopka and lush oak forests provide beautiful rural scenery at a convenient distance from most of Orlando - approximately 35-45 minutes from most Orlando hotels. Check out those surcharges! Tee boxes were overgrown, fairways rough, and the greens were OK....like a golf wasteland Great potential, but I'd be surprised if they're in business in a couple of year, as we were one of only 3 groups there on a SUNDAY....

Green were very hard due to the cold Winter. We combined our own set of tees to play the couse at 6000 yards. The course still won! It was tough to hold the green's and control your short game. There were a couple brutal pin placements where you would be thrilled with a two putt. It is a beautiful course and spectacular location.

EVERYTHING WE EXPECTED! HOPE WE CAN AFFORD TO PLAY IT AGAIN IN THE FUTURE. ONLY RECOMMENDATION WOULD BE TO ADD ANOTHER SET OF TEES AROUND 6000 YDS. PLAYING ALMOST 6400 IN THE WIND IS LONG FOR THE AVERAGE GOLFER.
